Toyendale Chapter 8

Chapter 8

When they got closer to the sea, Daisy realized how beautiful the water looks like: all hues of the rainbow was waving and giving her such a calm feeling. For a second she almost forgot why she was there, then she heard someone, it was a dog at the edge of the shore, even though it was a stuffed dog, Daisy did not realize it since she grew accustom to her new life style. The dog was looking for something she buried before. Daisy slowly tiptoed towards the dog.

The dog turned his face towards Daisy since she smelled there was a stranger approaching towards her with a good heart. ‘’Are you looking for someone?’’ asked the dog. Her furs were white as snow except her face, which was masked with a beautiful black fur.

‘’We are here to find Crystal Queen. Do you know where she is?’’ responded Silver Star. Mel thought it is okay to trick these strangers for fun, so she told them the Queen isn’t here anymore. The ragged doll almost fell down to the ground but the pony caught him. Mel noticed they look upset yet she continued her lie: ‘’She left away a month ago. Why are you searching for her?’’

‘’We are here for her invitation,’’ said the ragged doll.

‘’A tea party, huh?’’

The doll nodded.

‘’So you know the queen?’’ asked Mel to be sure.

The pony answered her:‘’I am a member of the queens guard. I was ordered by the queen to bring Merry Goldenheart, Lilac and Ice to Icelynn,’’ the pony paused for a while and continued ‘’When did she leave exactly?’’

Mel got worried that if the queen finds out that she turned away her guests, she will be furious. ‘’She can come any toysecond, you know,’’ she babbled the truth. She had so much luck that the queen was about to return from her research journey. When the clouds were disappeared from the sky, they saw the sky is full of stars which are shining like gems. At the moment, they heard the voices of the ponies who are galloping above them. And they saw the shining lady sitting on her glass sledge. The ponies stopped once they saw Mel with four strangers. The queen gracely left her sledge and came closer to the child in ragged doll clothing, who is supposed to be from the human’s world. When she held her chin, she saw everything that happened to this poor girl: She had lost her sister and was desperately looking for her.

‘’You are coming to my castle,’’ the shining lady commanded them with a strong voice. Daisy thought that she might be Crystal Queen. She investigated her from tip to toe. Her clothes were bright as stars and her skin was transparent like a crystal. Her eyes were cold blue but she had a warm smile. She called Daisy to sit with her on her sledge. Nana, Tiny, the guard dog, and Silver Star followed them to the castle, walking behind the sledge which was no longer flying. Some parts of this rainbow lake was frozen or looked frozen next to the castle, the ground was soft as marshmallows and light as clouds. Her blue castle made of a kind of enormous shinny gem and it had a huge gate with two equally big pony statues next to it.

‘’These were the statues of previous queen and king, my adoptive parents,’’ she replied Daisy’s thoughts. Daisy wasn't sure if she had spoken out loud.

‘’I’m the queen of Toyendale. I know everything child,’’ she answered her mind question once more. As soon as they entered the hall of the castle, the queen turned to the dog and scolded her.

‘’Mel, will you ever give up telling lies? This is the reason why you will stay in this state!’’ uttered queen. Mel felt sorry about what she did but telling lies turned out to be a habit for her which she cannot stop.

‘’I was her former guard before I tricked everybody in this country and collected taxes for myself by using the name of the queen. This is why she had punished me,’’ said Max with a bitter voice, explaining her story to these strangers.

‘’And now, you have to help them if you still want to gain my trust.’’ The queen turned to Daisy and asked her why she was here even though she knew the answer.

‘’I am looking for my sister, Summer, and Silver Star here, is searching for his sister as well. We thought it was you, who took them.’’

The queen replied ‘’You will be helped!’’ She used a magical globe to locate the missing sisters but her power was not enough to find them. Daisy was anxious to find her sister in time. They took a long journey and found out Ice Queen was not bad as they thought she would be.

‘’Can you locate them?’’ asked Daisy biting her lip nervously.

‘’I cannot see them, something blocks me from seeing where they are. I have been looking for Summer for two toydays. She was here with me because I needed her to keep Toyendale alive. Without her I have not much power left. Day by day toys are losing their lives, our world is collapsing that’s why I invited Summer here so that I could save my people.’’

‘’So you are the one who kidnapped my baby sister!’’ yelled Daisy at the Ice Queen, Nana had to hold Daisy tight so she would not get herself in trouble with the queen. Who knows what punishment she can get for a treason.

‘’I did because of you!’’ The queen yelled back at Daisy.

‘’For me! What have I done to you?’’

The queen had no patience left, so she had to explain the whole story: ‘’Not only to me! But to my people! You stopped taking care of us, you stopped playing with us, and most importantly you stopped imagining. Without imagination of a child, we are merely toys who have no life in them. What you do is to take the life away from us by not giving us to your sister. Soon this place will collapse and cease to exist.

Daisy had nothing else to say. When was the last time she played with her toys? She remembered she used to play with them every day about twenty minutes or so. Her interests was changing. On the other hand, Summer wanted to play with the but she never allowed her to do so. It was her selfishness and greed, she should have let Summer play with her toys. She terribly missed Summer, and wanted to give everything to her.

"I will make this right, Toyendale will continue!" Daisy promised.
