Toyendale Chapter 6

Chapter 6
A rag doll with two trolls and a pony finally arrived at the station. As they were waiting for the chocolate train to the North. A tin soldier who once belonged to the rag doll’s mother came to inspect the tickets of gummies of this strange pack of toy people. The tin soldier, whose name was Barry, had a long double shift already and he had no patience left for any troublemaker in this world.
“Everything in order?” he asked while checking the gummies. He asked himself, why on toy earth would people go to the North? The thought of Crystal Queen made him shiver although toys do not shiver. He gave the gummies back and told them not to eat until the end of their journey. He thought, having gummies as tickets were one of the worst ideas this government had. Kid toys would eat them immediately and parents end up buying extra tickets.
Something about the rag doll made her interesting to Barry. He was sure that he had seen her before somewhere. So he had to ask for her name.
“What is your name, young lady?”
“Uhmm,..” Instead of her, the older troll answered the question.
“Goldenheart! Her name is Merry. I am Lilac and this is my son Ice and this is…”
The pony said, “Wave Rider”
“I liked the name Goldenheart. Everybody has a friend or relative named Goldenheart, right! Because we all want to go back to the reign of her.
“What reign?”, claimed Goldenheart. Barry couldn’t help himself but laugh.
“Where did this young lady grow up?”
“I grew up here,” she exclaimed.
“Young toys. They sure don’t have interest in our history,” said Wave Rider.
Silver Star, Daisy, Nana and Tiny was sitting in their compartment.
“You almost ruined everything!” Silver Star scolded Daisy.
“Sorry. I didn’t want to blow our undercover,” said Daisy with sheepish eyes.
“What cover?” asked Tiny, the tiny troll as his name.
“Undercover, like in spy movies. Haven’t you seen James Bond?” Daisy remembered that she wasn’t in her own world any more. Her mother must have gone crazy by now. She had to find a lie to explain all of this. Even she told them the truth, they wouldn’t understand or believe in it. But everything was real. She wished she was at home with Summer. She promised herself that she will be a real sister to Summer when all of this ended. She missed her family.
“How long will it take to go to Icelynn?” asked Daisy to Silver Star after she heard the moving train.
“A toyday or two,” said Nana, the older troll.
“I don’t understand your time. How can you tell the difference?” Daisy was exhausted from not being able to understand this new world. She wasn’t used to living in a strange place.
“When the day is over, there comes a rainbow and stays for a toy hour.”
“But I haven’t seen a rainbow since I came.”
“That means the day is not over,” said Silver Star.
“It feels like two days here,” she closed her eyes and tried to get some sleep. Then she found herself in her own bedroom. Her mother knocked on the door and entered. “Good morning, sweet pie,” she hugged Daisy,
“I made you, your favourite pancakes, come and eat.”
“Wait, mama, Summer also needs to get up,” she said and pointed her finger at Summer’s bed but there was neither bed nor Summer in that corner. Just her dollhouse.
“Summer? Is that a name for your new toy?” asked her mother.
“No. Summer is my sister,” she said.
“Then take your new sister with you,” said her mother and gave her one of the toys lying on the floor.
Daisy was horrified. They forgot her, she thought. She ran to her father and hoped that he remembers her sister.
“Do you know where Summer is? Is she playing hide and seek?” she asked.
“Who is Summer?” her father asked with a weird look.
“Summer is ‘her new sister,’” said her mother. Showing the same toy to her husband.
Daisy couldn’t hold her tears any longer. She woke up finding herself on marshmallow cushions of her compartment. Others looked at her in a sorry way.
“My parents already forgot her,” she said.
“Your mind is playing a trick on you. We will find them. Look, we already passed the Emerald Brook!” She looked at the green river behind. It looked like one of the jewellery of her mother. Summer would love to see this river since she always liked shiny bright things.
All of a sudden the rainbow they discussed before covered the sky. The stars were shining through them. So beautiful, Daisy thought. The rainbow stayed until they reached Dryhill. The ground looked like a soil in here. She watched rainbow’s rays disappearing one by one. It was already much colder than before. Tiny snuggled to Daisy and she hugged him.
When the train stopped before their last station out of nowhere, the tin soldier came to their compartment.
“You need to leave now,” he said showing them the exit.
“What happened, officer?” asked Silver Star.
“The queen blocked all the ways to the Icelyyn including this railway with ice. We cannot go further. And I don’t want trouble on this train.”
“But we simply want to go to Starview.”
“Then you have to go on foot. Good luck!” he said and left.

There was nothing else to do there. So they left the train and started walking towards the Starview.
