Toyendale Chapter 5

Chapter 5
Daisy and Silver Star found themselves on the shore of a marsh which looked like a real mud this time. But, of course, in Toyendale nothing looked like the way it seemed. Only thing Silver Star knew about this place was it was controlled by a pack of trolls. Despite the hardness of walking over a chocolate marsh, Daisy and Silver Star enjoyed their moment until they encountered another stranger, a troll covered with blue and brown fur. At least this stranger seemed to be friendly, unlike the monkey, Rod.
‘’Hey, we are looking for a short way to go Icelynn. Do you have an idea?’’ asked Silver Star with chocolate on his mane. The troll seemed hilarious to Daisy, and she started laughing at him without any reason. Then, she made a ball out of chocolate and threw at Silver Star. You must have realized that Toyendale has its own charm which affects people to forget about their purpose and time. So the chocolate ball Daisy threw to Silver Star, became the beginning of the chocolate war between these two. But the troll was not affected by this nonsense.
‘’I’m Little Mike, and this is my territory you are playing at. You have to take the railway to the North, which will take you over the Emerald Brook and through Dryhill until Starview. From then on you need to walk which is about two or three toy-times, depends on how high you can jump’’ said the troll who was ironically massive that he might have scared Daisy in normal life. He was five foot taller than Daisy, and he looked like he had eaten all the chocolate in the marsh. It was hard to tell if he was made of chocolate or not.  About a minute later, four blue trolls came with a little blue troll which looked like the size of a cat in comparison to Daisy. They started to beat the little one until it gets completely stuck in the marsh. Daisy was horrified to see what was happening. She rushed to help the little troll. His lips were trembling. She pulled him out of the chocolate mud. Silver Star became furious as well when he saw what they have done to him. He stood in front of Daisy and the little troll to protect them. He asked:
‘’What is your problem with this little fellow?’’
‘’He looks like a snail, and I don’t like it’’, responded Little Mike. What a stupid reason, thought Daisy. But she remembered her own idiotic causes for beating her sister. One day, she smashed Summer to the ground just because she sat on her bed without asking. She felt the shame of her own deeds and looked at her feet as she always used to do whenever she couldn’t admit her wrongdoings. She knew that Summer only wanted to play with her big sister. Daisy felt it was her responsibility to stop this nonsense behaviour of these bullies.
‘’Why don’t you go and pick on someone like your size instead of this kid?’’ Daisy pointed her finger at Little Mike. She continued; “ I know, it would have been hard to fight with a person as strong as you. So you choose this troll to bully to prove yourself that you're stronger than others. But actually, you are not!”He didn’t expect to hear these words.
‘’Have you ever asked yourself that maybe this little kid needs your guidance instead of your punches?’’Silver Star backed Daisy up. Daisy helped the little troll to stand up. He seemed terrified of them and hid behind Daisy’s skirts.
‘’You should be a good example for him. You don’t have to scare him. Your aim might be to teach him something useful in his life,” said Daisy without blinking her eyes. The words burst out from her lips like a volcano erupting its lava. Was she telling this to herself as well? Who knows what Daisy would think about at that moment.
Little Mike and his friends thought about the new idea the girl advise them. He always wanted to have someone to train and educate. He looked at the poor little troll who seemed, even more, smaller than before. Could he teach him something? Something that made him stronger and wise as all trolls are. No, he is a lost cause, he thought. He approached the tiny troll who was hiding behind the strange girl.
“Do you want to be part of the pack?” he asked. Before he got an answer, he continued: “ You have to prove yourself to us,” while showing his teeth.
“No, he doesn’t have to!” claimed Daisy with anger. She even prepared her fists for fighting if necessary and calculated how she could take down this pack of trolls, hoping that Silver Star might help her.
Little Mike did something unexpected. He gave his hand to the tiny troll and said: ”If you want to join us, go help them to find their sisters and only then you would be worthy to be a real troll of Chocomarsh.”
“How do you know that we are looking for our sisters?” asked Silver Star.
“Before the Crystal Queen’s reign, Trolls were the in charge of the security of Toyendale. We still know what happens in this world. We knew that your sisters are with her.”
“So they are like a police force in my world?” asked Daisy to Silver Star. He gave her a nod.
“If your sisters are missing it is our job to find them as well. But going to Icelynn with six trolls might look suspicious. Take this little fellow of us with you and let him learn the ways of us.”
“But we don’t know anything about the troll ways,” pointed Silver Star.
“That’s why I will give you the best mentor of trolls. She will be undercover as a mom of the little one. In case if the Queen sees you, she will only see a ragged doll with two trolls and a pony.”
“ A ragged doll?”
“You need to disguise yourself too, Daisy,” said Silver Star. The mentor Little Mike was talking about appeared out of the marsh or mud, whatever you would like to name it. She looked an inch taller than Little Mike and carrying a huge bag on her furry shoulder. She was a blue troll like the little fellow. It must be easy to think that she is the mother of the little troll.
“Hello, child,” she approached directly to Daisy and put a hat and red wig on her.
The trolls showed the path which goes to Icelynn. It seemed like the time had stopped in here since the sun was still in the same place.
‘’Have you ever seen the sunset here?’’ asked Daisy to Silver Star wondering about this strange world.
‘’The night only shows up in the North’’ responded Silver Star. Summer wouldn’t like it if she was there, thought Daisy. And she realized how much she missed her sister. The wild effect of Chocomarsh was gone already. There were flowers in the borders of the path. Daisy thought that she should gather some of them for their mother on their return. The weather was getting colder as they get close to the North. The flowers disappeared after a while. At the end of the path, they finally saw the railway which goes to the North. Daisy imagined hugging her sister.
